New Old Town Restaurants

by Missy on May 11, 2010

Thanks to my friend Dave Robbins, who keeps tabs on all things Alexandria, I have some delicious news on four upcoming restaurants in Old Town.  Two of these are being opened by the owners of Restaurant Eve, the Majestic, PX, and Eammon’s.  These establishments are (in my opinion) the best Old Town has to offer, so I am very, very excited about their new ventures.
  • Society Fair, which will be located at the corner of Washington and Duke Streets, will combine a market, butchery, bakery, wine bar, and restaurant with  30 outdoor seats and 50 indoor seats.
  • Restaurant Eve owners are also opening an unnamed gastro-pub on the Old Town waterfront where Olsson’s books used to be (corner of King and S. Union Streets).   A pretty large restaurant, it will have 300 indoor seats and 50 outdoor seats with a view of the Potomac.
  • A restaurant has been approved in the abandoned building at the corner of Route 1 (Patrick) and King Street.  Not sure of what type of resturant it will be, but at one point there was talk of a 50s style soda fountain.
  • A BBQ/asian/sushi restaurant called Hog Thaid has been approved for the Del Ray neighboorhood.
